Sneak Peek:
Getting out of the car I walk up the stone path to the house to meet Desi. She’s dressed in a pretty black flapper dress. The beads on the bottom click in the soft spring breeze.

“Hey Des, what’s going on?”
She glares at me. “Do you not research the places you will be living in before you move in?”
Desi’s stern tone is off-putting, I’ve never seen her this angry. “What are you talking about?”
“This house.” She says gesturing to the house. “This land...this whole TOWN is situated on top of what used to be the campus of an old mental hospital.”
“I had no…” I begin.
She holds her hand up, stopping me. “Not only is this land situated on top of the grounds of the mental hospital. It was one of the WORST mental hospitals in the United States! This house right here is sitting on top of where the women’s ward was, and under your house are the steam tunnels that led from one building to another.”
“Steam tunnels?”
She rolls her eyes. “Yes, steam tunnels…” She looks at me to see if I understand her. “Running water...please tell me you know about running water?” I shrug and shake my head. I have no idea where she is going with this. Desi gives me a disgusted look. “The water in the steam tunnels is ionically charged so that it can create portals from the spirit realm to ours.”
