Excerpt:
“Taking out the trash, Hart?” a voice asked behind me. I turned swiftly
to find Anna and Isabel standing with their arms crossed, staring at
me.
“Oh, is this the first time you’ve seen anyone do this sort of
thing? You wouldn’t know how to do this if you tried, would you, Anna?
It’s called work!” I said as I rolled my eyes.
“Maybe you should do us all a favor … climb in and throw yourself away,” Anna remarked.
At first I was stunned, but I came back strong. “You see, I would, but
this can is meant for you two.” They laughed at first, but I could see
the fear in their eyes. The sad truth was that they were all bark and no
bite. If I even lunged at them they would piss themselves. Anna and
Isabel were attached at the hip. They did everything together, including
watching the fireworks at the lake with their football playing boy
toys. They would probably even go to the same college and drive the same
type of car. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if they had babies on the
same day. So I knew if retaliation for all my threats would take place
it would have happened right then and there.
“You better watch yourself, Hart!” Isabel warned.
“You watch it or both of you will end up chopped in tiny pieces and I
will be dragging your asses to the curb by next week.” With that they
scurried away and I was left in the silence of the stars. I wouldn’t let
them ruin my night. I had enough crap on my mind lately.
Synopsis:
Kayla Hart was loved by some, but not all. There were whispers she was a
witch. However, most chose to believe she was merely a misguided freak.
The sad truth was she was just unpopular and a bit shy. When Kayla went
missing, everyone pretended to care. The entire community scoured her
small New Jersey town looking for her. Unfortunately, this tragic story
